Given my financial situation, should I choose to work with an investment adviser? Why or why not?
If you’d like a professional algorithm to build and monitor a diversified portfolio for you—or to automatically shop your idle cash for the optimal after-tax yield—then an investment-advisory account can save you time and keep emotions out of investing. If you prefer to pick individual stocks or do your own research, a self-directed brokerage account may be a better fit.
How will you choose investments to recommend to me?
For discretionary “Roboadvisor” and “Smart Yield” accounts we use a rules-based algorithm:
Roboadvisor ETFs – The algorithm maps your risk-profile questionnaire to one of several pre-built ETF portfolios, rebalances daily for cash flows and drift, and is reviewed at least quarterly by our investment committee.
Smart Yield money-market funds – Each day we compare the 7-day SEC yields of eligible Treasury or municipal money-market funds against your tax profile and automatically allocate to the fund that aims to deliver the optimal after-tax yield.
We do not recommend or monitor positions in self-directed “Equities” accounts; you make every buy- or-sell decision there.
What is your relevant experience, including your licenses, education and other qualifications? What do these qualifications mean?
Firm: Carry Advisors LLC has been SEC-registered since 2023 and manages both discretionary and non-discretionary accounts exclusively through an internet platform, with $74 million in regulatory assets under management as of 12/31/2024.
People: All portfolio-management decisions are made by our Investment Committee, whose members hold the FINRA Series 65 or Series 7 & 66 licences required to give investment advice. Those licences test U.S. securities regulations and fiduciary obligations; the professional designations require rigorous study in portfolio theory, ethics and tax planning.
If I open a bank or trust account through Carry, will you be my investment adviser for that account?
No. Bank and trust accounts opened on the Carry platform are not advisory accounts—we do not monitor or manage them, and they are governed by separate provider disclosures.
Help me understand how fees affect my investments.
Our advisory fee is 0.20 % per year on the assets we manage. This fee is deducted monthly, so market gains or losses compound on the balance after fees. Mutual-fund or ETF expense ratios and your Carry membership fee—$299 (Core) or $499 (Pro) per year—are separate costs that also reduce return.
If I invest $10,000 in Smart Yield, how much goes to fees versus invested?
Amount invested: $10,000
Annual advisory fee: $20 (0.20 % = about $1.67 per month)
Net amount kept working for you: $9,980 for the year, before fund expense ratios and any membership fee.
How might your conflicts of interest affect me, and how will you address them?
We limit trading to a curated list of ETFs and money-market funds; other advisers may offer a wider universe.
All accounts must clear through DriveWealth LLC, which may not be the lowest-cost custodian in all cases.
You must maintain a paid Vibes membership. Our parent company earns that subscription revenue and a share of fees from optional services (book-keeping, CFP®, tax prep) you may purchase via the Carry website.
We mitigate these conflicts by (i) charging a flat 0.20 % advisory fee regardless of product, (ii) receiving no commissions, revenue-sharing or 12b-1 fees from any fund, and (iii) disclosing the conflicts in this FAQ, Form CRS and Form ADV so you can decide if the relationship remains in your best interest.
As a financial professional, do you have any disciplinary history? For what type of conduct?
No. Carry Advisors and its financial professionals have no legal or disciplinary history. You can confirm this by searching our firm (CRD # 323620) or any individual on Investor.gov/CRS.
